How to install Walkway Gravel

  1. 1
    Prep the base

Excavate 4-6", compact the subgrade, and lay geotextile fabric.

  2. 2
    Spread in lifts

2-3" lifts; compact between each lift.

  3. 3
    Edge & crown

Edging stops migration; crowning sheds water.

  4. 4
    Top up yearly

Plan a thin re-dressing each year as gravel migrates.

    Repeat customer, landscaper

I use this gravel on most of my residential path jobs. Grabbed 8 tons for two backyards last month. The 3/8 to 1/2 inch size is right for footpaths, big enough not to track into the house but small enough to walk on easily. Consistent gray tan color between loads. Drivers have handled tight cul-de-sac turns without a fuss.

  2. Sheila D.

    Front entry walk

Replaced a cracked concrete walk with walkway gravel and a row of steppers. Three tons was right for a 4 foot wide path plus a small landing by the steps. It sits nicely around the flagstones, drains instead of puddling, and the tan tones warmed up the front of the house. Ordering online was simple and the pile landed neatly on the driveway tarp.

  3. Kelly N.

    Garden path done

Put in a winding path from the patio to the vegetable garden with this walkway gravel. Ordered 2 tons over landscape fabric with steel edging and it covered about 60 feet at three inches. The gray and tan mix looks natural next to the beds, and it is comfortable to walk on barefoot compared to the bigger crushed stone we had before. Driver texted when he was close.
